Sharon Stone‘s former live-in nanny, Erlinda Elemen, is suing her for harassment and wrongful termination after Sharon accused her of stealing overtime and then docked her pay. She was hired as a housekeeper and nanny to Stone‘s three adopted sons, but was let go after refusing to give back her overtime pay.
Elemen is also claiming that Stone racially harassed her and made her work in sweatshop conditions. The actress would subject the nanny to painful racial slurs based on her Filipino ethnicity during the five years she worked in Sharon‘s home. Sharon apparently did not want to hear Erlinda speak around her children because she did not want her children to “talk like [her].”
The lawsuit also mentions that Stone “equated Filipino with being stupid,” and was “dismissive” of Elemen‘s religious beliefs. Stone once forbade her nanny from reading the bible in the home and even criticized her for attending religious services. Stone sometimes made Elemen work seven days a week, but refused to pay her overtime for the extra work.
Stone‘s representatives are calling these accusations “absurd” and suggest the nanny is attempting to take advantage of the actress’ celebrity status to cash in. A spokesperson for live-in nanny, Erlinda Elemensaid,
“This is an absurd lawsuit that has been filed by a disgruntled ex-employee who is obviously looking to get money any way she can.”
Do you think Sharon Stone harassed her nanny, or is the nanny simply disgruntled and looking to make a quick buck?
