Selena Gomez mysteriously canceled part of her tour earlier this month, and a new report says the reason is that the singer is currently battling lupus.
Popdust is reporting that 21-year-old Selena was diagnosed with lupus a few years ago and has suffered numerous “flares” recently, which involves facial swelling, fatigue, headaches, and joint pain.
“Selena has been going full throttle the past few years, and her lupus is really catching up with her right now,” says a source. “She knows that she needs to take some time to address the disease and look after herself better if she wants to live a full and healthy life.”
Lupus is an autoimmune disease that affects roughly 5 million people worldwide. Lupus is most common in women of African American, Hispanic, Native American, and Asian descent, especially between the ages of 15 to 35. It is incurable but treatable.
Selena had announced that she was canceling the tour to have more downtime, and indeed she has been getting close to her loved ones during the holiday season. On Christmas Eve, she posted an adorable photo of herself holding her baby sister Gracie. “Gracie helping me cook Christmas dinner,” she captioned it.
