Looking at her perfect skin and fit physique, you’d think Sofia Vergara is a shining example of perfect health. But did you know that back in the late 90’s she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer? Thankfully Vergara overcame the disease and now she’s on a mission to educate Latinos about medicine and clean living (with a little help from Oscar de la Hoya).
Sofia and Oscar are partnering for SuperVida, a website dedicated to educating Spanish-speaking families on ways to properly take care of themselves. Everything from cancer detection tips, to nutrition advice will be made available at the click of a mouse.
“SuperVida será dedicado a educar a las familias hispanas sobre los temas de salud que más nos afectan,” she told Primero Hora. “Somos 50 millones de hispanos en este país y no hay un recurso como éste y lo necesitamos. Va a ser algo revolucionario para mejorar y salvar vidas.”
It all sounds very exciting to us, particularly the fitness section. Because with heavy Thanksgiving dinners right around the corner, SuperVida will be a great destination for tips on how to shed that turkey weight.
