Spanish Director Nacho Vigalondo To Take On ‘Supercrooks’

There are heist stories and then there’s Supercrooks. Literally blending pieces of Ocean’s Eleven with The X-Men, it’s currently one of the hottest comic books on the market. And now there’s talk of it getting fast tracked to a feature film, with the help of Spanish director Nacho Vigalondo.

Nacho’s already built quite a reputation in the sci-fi movie world. His 2007 time travel epic Los Cronocrímenes received rave reviews and established Vigalondo as one of today’s hottest young visionaries.

That being said, Supercrooks is right up his alley. Written by Kick-Ass’ Mark Millar, it meshes multiple genres together for a high-concept caper that fanboys will love.

“Heist films are one of my favorite genres because they are based equally in character chemistry and plot complexity,” Nacho recently said. “I also love the fact that this story happens in a Millar-esque world, where superpowers have become a common thing.”

It all sounds very exciting to us, but we may have to wait a while to see it. Supercrooks is still in the early pre-production stage. But at least we can enjoy Millar’s fascinating comic in the meantime.
