Justin Timberlake has released the “Suit & Tie” video, a pretty little piece of David Fincher-directed black and white cinema.
In the clip, Timberlake is shown using his iPad as he’s wheeled around in a bed. (He also plays chess with an underwear-clad model.) Jay-Z appears early in the video, hanging out with Timberlake in a lush bachelor pad, of sorts.
Predictably, the video spread all over the internet in the blink of an eye. Timberlake and Jay-Z seemed like they were having a great time filming the video, and now we see why.
Fincher has an extensive background in music videos, so it’s no wonder he rose to the challenge of directing such a highly anticipated spot. (He also directed Timberlake in “The Social Network.”) As for JT, the visuals mark another step in his path to pop domination. Other rungs on that ladder: teasing the internet before releasing the single, performing at the Grammys, dropping a new song (“Mirrors”) right after the Grammys and booking a stadium tour with Jay-Z. Not bad for a rusty old pop star.
