Taylor Lautner Parkour Movie: 'Tracers' Will Sell At Cannes Film Festival

Taylor-Lautner

The four words you’ve been waiting for: Taylor Lautner parkour movie.

According to Deadline.com, Lautner will star in “Tracers,” which will see its international distribution rights put up for sale at the Cannes Film Festival this week. Per a press release, the film will focus on a bike messenger named Cam, “the hottest thing on two wheels,” who gets involved in an organized crime ring, a “sexy stranger,” and parkour, which is described as “a physical discipline which focuses on efficient movement around obstacles.” (Thanks, Wikipedia!)

Lautner, who was a martial arts champion in his youth, used parkour in his last year’s “Abduction.”

“All the stuff at the baseball stadium, that was really just improv,” he told Moviefone about the film’s stunts. “We got there on the day — or, when we scouted the location — and saw the huge giant glass awning-thing that I slide down. We’re like, ‘We gotta figure out how to get that in the movie.’ We saw all these great things that would allow me to do some parkour. Everything in the baseball stadium was really just improv on the day.” (You can glimpse Launter’s parkour’ing in the “Abduction” trailer below.)

“Tracers” will be yet another opportunity for Lautner to show he can break away from the warm box-office embrace of the “Twilight” franchise, which will come to an end this year. While co-stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson have managed to excel in indie productions (like “On the Road” and “Cosmopolis,” both debuting at the Cannes Film Festival) and some studio fare, Lautner’s muscle has faltered outside of Forks, Wash.; “Abduction” flopped and Lautner was merely part of a broad ensemble in “Valentine’s Day.”

Still, with “Tracers” coming soon — as well as a role in Adam Sandler’s “Grown Ups 2” — the 20-year-old actor has plenty of opportunities to succeed on his own.
