That’s No Cookie Monster! Sesame Street’s YouTube Channel Hacked, Replaced With Porn

Sunday’s espisode of Sesame Street was brought to you by the letters XXX.

Those looking to get to their YouTube fix of Muppet goodness instead wound up with an eyeful for about 20 minutes yesterday, as hackers managed to replace all the hijinks of Ernie and Bert with hard-core porn footage.

Avert your eyes, Elmo.

All links to the show’s YouTube channel brought fans to an adult film called First Anal Quest: Angelica, according to Reddit.

The site also has links to what the page looked like before and after the hacking. The latter page (definitely NSFW, especially for Grover groupies) featured a new slogan, “It’s where porn lives,” below the familiar Sesame Street sign.

The description of the video read:

“Who doesn’t love porn kids? Right! Everyone loves it.”

Following the hacking, YouTube removed the entire Sesame Street channel. While individual videos are currently still online, the channel itself is listed as unavailable.

“We apologize for any inconvenience our audience may have experienced today on our Sesame Street YouTube channel,” the Sesame Workshop said in a statement Monday morning. “Our channel was compromised and we are presently working with YouTube/Google to restore our original content. We always strive to provide age-appropriate content for our viewers and hope to resolve this problem quickly.”

There was no immediate word from YouTube on when the real-deal channel will be restored.

Meanwhile, one of the hackers implicated in the prank, sombody with the handle MrEdxwx, took to his gaming channel to deny targeting the kiddie site.

“I did not hack Sesame Street. I am an honest YouTuber,” he wrote. “I work hard to make quality gameplay videos, and most important I respect the community guidelines.”

Well, whoever did the deed better beware. We hear Big Bird is scary when he gets angry.
