Starting April 22nd until May 20th, the “El Chavo” musical production will visit 13 cities in the U.S. for the first time ever. Based on the brilliant character created by Roberto Gómez Bolaños, this show brings together the legendary stars of the TV show in a unique story that recreates a very entertaining adventure in “El Chavo del Ocho’s” neighborhood.
This musical production, under the supervision and approval of Gómez Bolaños, is produced by Televisa Consumer Products in collaboration with Tycoon Gou Productions and Live Entertainment.
The show “El Chavo” premiered in 2010 at the Teatro Metropolitan in Mexico. Since then, it has had resounding success with over 300 functions in several cities throughout Mexico (64), Panama, Peru, El Salvador, Honduras, Costa Rica and Argentina. It is estimated that over 450 thousand people have seen the show since its debut.
“El Chavo del Ocho” is undoubtedly one of the most notable characters in television history, not only in America but also worldwide. The first episode of “El Chavo del Ocho” was aired on June 20, 1971 and has since been the preferred program for all Spanish-speaking families. In addition, due to its success it has been translated into several languages.
The series has recorded over 1,300 episodes and continues to be programmed in various countries such as Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, United States, Guatemala, Panama, Paraguay and the Dominican Republic among others, which maintains its high level of popularity. In United States, it has achieved first place among audiences ranging from 6 to 49 years old, according to official studies done by Galavision (Nielsen Media Research), the leading Spanish-language channel cable in the country.
In this story, that comes to life through the live musical production of “El Chavo”, you will not only see “El Chavo” in action but also the characters that have been an integral part of the show’s history for over 40 years including: Quico, The Popis, Ñoño, Mr. Barriga, Clotilde, Don Ramon, Doña Florinda and Professor Jirafales and villains Malacara and asistonto (dumb assistant) Rufino.
