Beneath the floors of the houses, there are little people living undetected in their secret world.
From legendary Studio Ghibli (“Spirited Away,” “Ponyo”) comes “The Secret World of Arrietty,” an animated adventure based on the acclaimed children’s book by Mary Norton “The Borrowers.”
Arrietty (voice of Bridgit Mendler), a small but tenacious 14 year old, lives with his parents (voices of Will Arnett and Amy Poehler) under the edge of the garden of a suburban home, without its owner or housekeeper know (voice of Carol Burnett). Like all little people, Arrietty (AIR-ee-ee-ett) remains hidden from public view, except for occasional visits beyond the story, to “borrow” some supplies like sugar cubes, human living in the house. But when Shawn (voice of David Henrie), a human child of 12 years who moves to the house, discovers his mysterious tenants a night, a secret friendship blossoms if discovered, could put Arrietty and his family in extreme danger .
The English version of “The Secret World of Arrietty” has executive produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall, and was directed by Gary Rydstrom.
