It’s official! Britney Spears and Demi Lovato were revealed as the new judges of “The X Factor” Season 2 at the Fox upfronts presentation in New York on Monday, joining returning judges Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid.

“I’m so excited about this whole experience,” Spears said at the presentation, where Fox unveils what’s to come during its 2012-2013 TV season. In a press release, she added, “I’m a huge fan of the show and now I get to be a part of the action. Simon and L.A. better watch out!”

As for Lovato, the 19-year-old former Disney star told the audience, “I’m totally stoked to be here … I’m excited to represent my generation and find the winner!” She added in a press release, “To be able to spend each week with Simon, L.A. and Britney watching the best that America has to offer is truly a dream come true.”

“I’m absolutely delighted Britney and Demi are joining us,” Simon Cowell said in a press release. “Britney remains one of the biggest stars in the world, she’s talented, fascinating -0 and I believe she knows exactly how to spot ‘The X Factor.’  Demi’s had an amazing career in music, TV and film for someone her age. She’s young, confident, and enthusiastic. I think it’s really important that she speaks to our younger audience. The new panel will be dynamic and will work really well with the changes we are making to the show.”

Last week E! News exclusively reported that Spears signed a $15 million contract the judges panel for Season 2. Reports first surfaced about Spears joining the show in early March.

Late Sunday night, TMZ revealed that Demi Lovato had officially signed on to judge  “The X Factor.”

Rumors have been running rampant for months about who would fill the seats left vacant when Cowell gave Season 1 judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger along with host Steve Jones the boot. Cowell began searching for replacement judges and hosts for “The X Factor” almost immediately.

Miley Cyrus and LeAnn Rimes were also rumored to be judges for “The X Factor” Season 2, while Fergie shut down reports that she was judging, as did Janet Jackson.

No official word yet on who will replace Steve Jones as host. “Glee” star Darren Criss recently shut down rumors about hosting “The X Factor,” while George Clooney’s current love interest, former wrestler Stacy Kiebler, is said to be in talks to host as well.

“The X Factor” is set for a midseason premiere in 2013 on Fox.
