Tommy Lee has won his legal battle against an engineer who claimed the Motley Crue rocker stole his idea for a drum kit roller coaster, TMZ reports.(If you’ve never heard of it, you need to check out the video below to see what they’re talking about. Do it!)

Los Angeles-based engineer Howard Scott King said he pitched the drums-on-a-roller coaster idea to Lee in 1991 and filed suit in 2012 demanding $400,000 in damages from Lee, who played on a set that goes on a loop along a roller coaster track during the band’s 2011 tour.

Lee argued the design was not the same and that no one owns the rights to a roller coaster. TMZ said the judge in the case ruled King never secured exclusive rights for the idea and concluded Lee came up with his idea on his own.

According to FindLaw.com, the suit focused heavily on misappropriating trade secrets. The website says King met with Lee’s agents in 1991 to sign a confidentiality agreement regarding a proposal for the roller coaster drums. But the agreement was lost or misplaced and was never produced in court.

A video of Lee performing a solo on the roller coaster kit is posted on the rocker’s Facebook page.

Lee, 51, is a founding member of Motley Crue who also founded the rap-metal band Methods of Mayhem. His list of former wives include actresses Heather Locklear and Pamela Anderson. He also is an active supporter of animal rights and PETA.
