Trevor Noah Forced To Miss 'The Daily Show' Due To Emergency Surgery

Trevor Noah, the new host of the The Daily Show wont be behind the desk Wednesday because he’s recovering from an emergency appendectomy.

Comedy Central announced the news via Twitter Wednesday, adding that “the procedure went well and he is currently recuperating from the surgery.”

“Trevor Noah underwent an emergency appendectomy early this morning. We’re happy to report the procedure went well and he is currently recuperating from the surgery,” the network said in the statement. “As a result, ‘The Daily Show’ will air an encore tonight. We expect he and the show will be back with an original episode tomorrow.”

According to Hopkins Medicine, an appendectomy is the surgical removal of the appendix, a tube about six inches long or less that branches off the large intestine. The procedure is performed to treat appendicitis, an inflammation of the appendix caused by infection.

A new episode of The Daily Show is expected to air on Thursday, according to Comedy Central. Filmmaker David Holbrooke was scheduled to be Noah’s guest on Wednesday’sepisode. (An encore episode will air instead.) Actress Regina King is booked for Thursday.

This will be the first episode Noah has missed since he took over hosting duties in September.
