Tribute To Chespirito Delayed Due To Illness

The much-anticipated tribute to the beloved Roberto Gómez Bolaños, América Celebra a Chespirito, had to be delayed over a half an hour due to the actor’s health problems.

Fans from all ages gathered in the famous Auditorio Nacional in Mexico to pay tribute to the man that for decades has entertained and sparked the imaginations of millions worldwide. However, just as the tribute was kicking off, Bolaños suffered severe dizziness and had to receive medical attention. Marco Antonio Regil, the tribute’s host, immediately got on stage and made an announcement to the bewildered fans.

Regil said,

Roberto Gómez Bolaños is experiencing a health problem, that is why we’re delayed. He is very emotional right now because of everything that is going on. He is ok, but is still weak.”

But as el Chapulin Colorado (one of Bolaños’ most famous characters) would say, no contaban con su astucia! After several minutes Bolaños got to his feet and walked on stage to greet his loving fans,

“¡Qué bien están! It gives me great pleasure to see you all here, thank you.”

The love was definitely felt in the auditorium as fans and celebrities presented the actor with a long standing ovation.

As soon as the comedic actor got settled, the party got started! Legendary singer, Juan Gabriel surprised the crowd by dressing up in the iconic red and yellow that el Chapulín Colorado commonly wore.

He dedicated one of his most famous hits, “Noa Noa” to Bolaños and almost made the crowd forget about the actor’s health incident. Other big names in music serenaded the comedic actor as well as his wife Florinda Meza (aka Doña Florinda), such as Armando Manzanero, who dedicated the song “Somos Novios” to the loving couple.

Although Bolaños has suffered from health problems for quite some time, the doctor who looked at him reassured the press that the dizziness was most likely a result of high emotions. Hopefully we’ll all be able to enjoy Chespirito for many years to come!
