Twisted Sister is going on a farewell tour before officially disbanding. The group announced their “Forty and F–k It” tour on Tuesday, which will take them through North America and Europe in 2016.
Original members Dee Snider, Jay Jay French, Eddie Ojedo and Mark Mendoza will take part in the tour, as well as drummer Mike Portnoy (from Adrenaline Mob), who will replace A.J. Pero, who died of a heart attack on March 20, according to TMZ.com.
The band decided to call it quits one week before Pero passed away, according to a rep. Prior to the farewell tour, Twisted Sister will take part in two tribute shows in honor of the drummer. They will take place on May 30 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and on June 13 at The Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ.
The heavy metal band from Long Island, N.Y., was formed by French in 1972. Snider wrote all the songs from 1976 onward, including the hits “We’re Not Gonna Take It” and “I Wanna Rock.”
