Which Real Housewives Hubby Is Releasing a Single?

Which ridiculous Real Housewives husband recorded an even more ridiculous song?

We’ll give you a few hints: He loves leather pants, sequined jackets, dancing, shopping, massages and stirring up trouble among the ladies from his Brooklyn townhouse.

If it isn’t completely obvious by now, that’s right, we’re talking about…

Real Housewives of New York City hubby Simon Van Kempen!

Alex McCord‘s flamboyant other half has recorded a new song called “I Am Real,” which was released today and will premiere on Bravo’s Watch What Happens show tonight after Housewives.

“It’s a little-known fact that I’ve loved music my whole life. From age 3 to 22 that’s all I did, although it was mostly the trombone,” Van Kempen reveals to us exclusively. “I haven’t done anything with it in 25 years, and so when I was approached to do this single, I wanted it to be real and not be manufactured.”

So did Simon succeed in making his single not sound “manufactured?” Well, we’ll let you judge for yourselves on this one. Check out the “music video” here.

And if you were surprised to hear that Simon had musical aspirations, you’re not alone.

“We really kept this under wraps until this morning,” Simon tells us. “We managed to keep this from Bravo, everyone. I recorded the song March 31.”

Simon teased us with a tweet that day foreshadowing this morning’s news: “I had the most bizarre Thursday fm Noon to 4pm.I haven’t drunk tea in 30+ yrs but had 6 cups in those 4 hours to aid me w/ what I was doing!”

One surprising Simon fan? His wife’s nemesis on the show, Jill Zarin.

“Jill tweeted me this morning that she thinks it’s great and she’s been really supportive,” says Simon, who adds that, “If a club asks me to perform the song, I’m happy to do it. I’m thrilled with how it turned out. I think it’s very catchy.”

Yeah, catchy, like a case of famewhoreitus!
