After coming under fire for missing Leonard Nimoy’s funeral services, William Shatner is now going on Twitter to defend himself.
Shatner, 83, originally said he would be missing the Nimoy’s funeral because he was “doing charity work” for the Red Cross.
“Let’s discuss it,” Shatner wrote on Twitter Sunday morning.
So my daughters Melanie and Lisabeth are attending Leonard’s services. — William Shatner (@WilliamShatner) March 1, 2015
I chose to honor a commitment I made months ago to appear at a charitable fundraiser. A lot of money was raised. So here I am; tell me off.

After he was criticized for taking a private jet back to Los Angeles from the Florida event, he had this to say.
“One of the other misconceptions seems to be that folks think flights to LAX occur all night.”
Then Shatner took questions from fans about Nimoy, calling him “the best” kind of father who was “an amazing uncle to [Shatner’s] daughters.”
“I do want to thank everyone for coming here and sharing their memories and celebrating the life of #LeonardNimoy LLAP! MBB.”
“Gang, all haters do is hate.”
Nimoy died Friday at his home from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. He was 83.
