Saban Entertainment are back with a vengeance. Ever since they re-acquired the Power Ranger licence from Disney, yearly Power Rangers shows have been going from strength to strength and now Saban Entertainment, in partnership with Lionsgate (Hunger Games, Kick Ass and Crank), will produce a film based on the Power Rangers with plans to create a franchise!
“Lionsgate is the perfect home for elevating our Power Rangers brand to the next level,” said Saban. “They have the vision, marketing prowess and incredible track record in launching breakthrough hits from The Hunger Games to Twilight and Divergent. In partnership with the Lionsgate team, we’re confident that we will capture the world of the Power Rangers and translate it into a unique and memorable motion picture phenomenon with a legacy all its own.”
Box Office wise the previous two Power Rangers films (Mighty Morphin’ Powers Ranger and Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie) never hit the money spot, but Saban has proudly reported a huge success with The Power Ranger brand.
Little has been said about the story of the new franchise but veteran ranger Jason David Frank had mentioned earlier that he had been discussing plans with Saban to produce a Wolverine style Green Ranger spin off.
